The varsity took their last step towards contending for the Tri County Athletic League Champion for the 3rd time in the last 4 years. Once again we will face Salinas High after beating RLS 8-4 tonight at Carmel High. This game against RLS never fails to be extremely exciting. I want to thank the fans and parents for all the great support tonight. It made it even that much more fun.
The boys went down early and faced a 3-1 deficit at half time. We once again fell into some bad shoot woes as we continued to pepper RLS goalie Beau Bayless with shot after shot. We finally woke up and began converting on our opportunities in the second half when the boys reeled off 7 straight goals to RLS's 1. It was an exciting comeback!
Jay Louis tallied 3 goals, 3 steals. Brady Hopkins was a force in 2 meters on defense and had 7 steals along with a big goal in the second half. Ben Evered was great in 2M facilitating the offense nicely as we had open drivers on both sides of the pool all night. He also scored a wicked back hand goal in the 4th quarter. Joe Hamwey, Ben Regan were relentless on the counterattack, continually getting inside the defense each time down the pool. Emilio Eisner had a big goal in 3rd quarter to help spark the comeback. Ryan Marden played some big minutes off the bench, as well as Mike Airola. Ben Price was a force in the cage shutting down RLS in the second half by only allowing one goal all half. He finished with 7 saves.
Carmel will play Salinas on Saturday, 5:30 at Santa Catalina. We would love to see everyone come out and watch. We need your support.
Friday is team pictures for all, practice and team dinner for the varsity only at the Stoffers at 6pm.
See you all on Saturday! Be ready to get loud!!
