Pre-Season Parent Banquet

I think the Pre-Season 09 Banquet was a success. I enjoyed meetin alot of new parents. It looked a little sketchy when the evening began. We had a number of families missing so we were looking a little skimpy on food with all those hungry boys lurking. But, all worked out and everyone ate. We even had 3 or 4 alumni who came and scrimmaged with the boys stay and eat.

I hope all got the focus of the night. The vision of this program is to encourage character growth through the great sport of water polo.
We ask each of these boys to commit to their team, be responsible for their own effort level, be encouraging and respectful to their teammates, and respectful to their coaches, opponents and referees.

Our creed is to follow the definition of success laid out by legendary UCLA Coach John Wooden:
"Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming."

Keys of the night for parents:
1) Sign up for the blog to be alerted to changes/updates, but still make it a habit to check the blog daily. Encourage the boys to check the blog daily as well.

2) Sign up to get involved with snacks, team dinners, volunteer jobs at both tournaments (Sign up with Libby Skinner (Chimay's mom). Take pictures, videos, etc. and give to Coach Gaily for use in the end of the season slide show and blog posts.

3) Contribute to CHS boosters (talk to Claire Kristl (Romi and Jakub's mom) or Carol Kurtz (Sam Stoffers mom)

4) Make sure your boys are on time for practices, games and tournaments

5) Do your very best to plan vacations, family events, doctors appointments, etc. around practice and game schedule.

6) Let your kids fully participate in the entire experience. Let them travel with the team, stay and watch varsity games, etc.

7) Be respectful at games when cheering. Positive cheering only and NO addressing the referees AT ANY TIME please.

8) Get involved in FOCA (Friends of Carmel Aquatics) with your time and financially. We still need to actively raise money to finish paying for our wonderful pool. The job is NOT done! www.carmelpool.org

9) Have fun, this is going to be a great year.

See you all soon...

Coach Gaily
