Carmel vs. Palma

Just wanted to get out a quick update before the weekend. I do not have the JV stats, but will post those once they are compiled.

Carmel won a hard fought battle with Palma, 6-4. It was a very low scoring affair with Jakub Kristl and Michael Cahalan (Palma goalie) both playing exceptional games in the cage. Carmel dominated the game as far as creating scoring opportunities from the first quarter on. We simply failed to convert those chances very well.

Jakub Kristl had 8 saves in the cage.

Nate Cohen had 3 big goals for us while Jay Louis, Brady Hopkins, and Joe Hamwey each had one apiece.

Kai Harper made a game changing assist to Joe Hamwey that helped us put the game out of reach in the second half.

Ben Evered was solid in 2 meters and earned a number of ejections on Palma's defense in which 2 of our goals came on the power play.

Ben Regan played a solid game in his first "start" on the varsity. Great defense and lead the counterattack most of the night.

We are still making "young" mistakes, but they are fixable. The process of improvement never stops. We're just at the beginning with this young group.

The JV's dominated the earlier game. The score ended up being around 15-5 but I don't know for exactly.

The Varsity heads off to a big tournament in the Central Valley. We have been attending this tournament since 1994 I believe. It's a lot of fun and we will play in 5 games. Lots of tough competition. Check the blog for updates.

The JV will be heading to Bellarmine where they will face some outstanding competition from some of the top programs in CCS. Good luck boys!!

Coach Gaily

P.S. Thank you to all the parents that helped scorekeep, pool setup and breakdown, and food. We couldn't do this without your help.
