Players and parents,
Over the last few years I have come to the realization that some of the polo boys have not transitioned into the 21st century modes of communicating (i.e. using email and web information). Some of this is a result of there being a family email address vice an address for each member of the family and the word does not get passed or passed quickly enough or if the boys have an email address they are not checking it daily or even more often than that.
Part of our polo program is to try and teach life skills and good citizenship in addition to the sport of water polo. I can speak from experience with both of my boys being in college that virtually all communication in college and college sports is done via email or a website including application to college, picking your classes, invoicing, makeup lectures or class notes, schedule definitions and changes, .... Todd, my older son, even convinced me that he needed web access on his phone even though it is fairly expensive because he was missing too may details by not getting home during the day to his computer or being able to get to a computer terminal at school to pick up daily details. There are not enough hours in the day to do everything with their busy schedule.
In an effort to try and improve our communication and response to deadlines (many of these are set to try to teach responsibility and timeliness) I would suggest that you get each of your water polo boys their own email address and whether they have one now or not that they learn to check it at least daily. This is a habit that they need to learn to survive and thrive in college. If there is expense involved with your ISP in doing this they can get a hotmail account which I believe is free. They need to sign up for the blog with their own email address once they get one.
