Padre Invitational Varsity Tourney Re-Cap

We pulled off another very successful tournament this weekend. The weather was not great, but the rain never did really hit us hard. All who attended got to witness some very good water polo throughout. We continue to attract high level teams wanting to attend our tournaments each year. The snackbar was run by a conglomerate of parents including Ann Thornburgh, Tracy Coppinger, Ken Doo, Kim Stemler. It was an awesome spread and took hours of dedication by these parents and a number of JV players to make this happen. Thank you so much!! The scoring desk was manned all day by Suzanne Marden, Bill Stoffers, Neal Harris, Coach Rodger, Coach Ed, Coach Pete. What a long weekend for those who devoted time, but very appreciated!! If you really want to learn the game of water polo, help at the scorers desk. It will help you learn the rules and flow of the game in a short period of time. I may have missed a few parents in my thank you's. It was a great team effort!!

Results:
Well, the varsity was tested mightily this weekend. We are confident that our three losses will directly improve us as a team. We were pushed very hard in all three games. We will be better from these games although we did not play particularly well this weekend. I am confident that we will pick things up in the coming weeks when it counts. These boys have worked so hard and the fruit will be ready to harvest when the time comes. We lost a tough first game to a Western Catholic Athletic League Team, St. Ignatius 8-6. Then lost a tight 2 goal game to Willow Glen and then lost a tight game with Live Oak. All games were very close and could have gone either way with a little sharper and more balanced play from Carmel.

This week:

Monday:
We have a battle on our hands Monday afternoon with San Benito at Carmel. Please be there to support! It is so helpful to have crowd support!
JV: 3:30
Varsity: 4:30

Wednesday:
Carmel vs. Palma @ Catalina
JV: 5:30
Varsity: 6:30
(Bus departure TBA)

Friday
Carmel JV tourney (details to follow)
Monte Vista Varsity Tourney (overnight stay) - (Details to follow)

Monday-Friday of the following week is League Championships. Carmel may likely host a few games at our site and we will need help running the desk for some boys games and likely some girls games. Saturday is the Championship Final day with the 5-6th, 3-4th place, and championship games all to be hosted at Santa Catalina. We will need to have volunteers to help run the desk there too. Details to follow.

P.S. This is where all the hardwork these boys and coaches have put in for these past months comes to fruition. Please be there to support, cheer on their efforts. Don't miss this exciting 2-3 final weeks!!!

Coach Gaily
