Winter Polo Decisions...Pick either, but pick one!

The bar has been set this year. Championships only come by hardwork. Hardwork in the offseason in now a requirement as competition continues to get more fierce each year. I have waited to post offseason info as some of it was developing. Legacy is making a concerted effort to offer more focus on the "upper level" varsity and college level players. Some of you are ready for this, some of you may need to stay with the general Legacy group. Those that want to play with the advanced group can attend, but coaches will be determining if your current skill level and commitment warrants a spot in the advanced group (This is for seniors this year as well, not just players returning next year). I would encourage all varsity players to attend this and commit to the the 2 days/week. You are expected to represent our program well with hardwork, respect for your coaches, proper attendance, and fundamental play.

There is another option for those interested. Coach Marcelo from Soquel has extended the invitation to our program to join his club in Soquel. This is a good opportunity, but I would lean towards Legacy and "keep it local" as Legacy is our "local" club. The more kids we have involved, the more tournaments and Junior Olympic qualifier teams we can put together with a large majority of Carmel players.

Both the Legacy Advanced group and Soquel club are on the same nights.

Recommendations:

1) If you are a varsity player or top tier JV player, I would like you to try out for the Legacy Advanced club.
If you are a "middle ground" JV player or Frosh you should be with the Legacy "general" practice times enhancing your ballhandling skills and understanding of the game.

Feel free to try the Soquel club as well. Either way, keep playing! Become a student of the game. Go see college games (see previous post about group going to Stanford this weekend). Swim in the spring, swim in the spring, swim in the spring for CHS. Did you hear me? Swim in the spring!

Legacy Info:

Legacy has decided to commit to offering an advanced high school practice to some of the top local boys water polo players.

We are asking you coaches to recommend kids who have a desire to get better, who are competitive and coachable, have solid ball handling, a thorough understanding of the game, and are committed to coming to practice. They should all be at least Varsity level or done with high school. We will see what kind of numbers we get from that. Our target is to have about twenty players total, but some of these will come from our best Masters players who have played in college and will offer an additional challenge. If we have too many we will start sending the bottom players back to Catalina. It will give those players something to work for. We will also only accept players that plan to show up for every practice unless they have a legitimate excuse. If your candidates have any questions they can contact Claire Linney at the above email or directly at #254-1209.

Practices will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:00pm at CSUMB. Winter session starts on Nov. 29th.

All players MUST be registered with Legacy under the category of Youth/Experienced High School: http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=vyybxcdab&oeidk=a07e33cxkia79625ad1

All players MUST be currently registered with USA Water Polo

Tournaments:
We will participate in the Pacific Water Polo winter league. Only the top players from each group will be invited to these tournaments.

We will also host games against local clubs and all our players will be invited to participate in these events.

Our pool space is limited and we will restrict the number of players in each group. We are expecting a busy winter with full groups and we will give preference to kids who signed-up early and paid in advance.
