I have an important question for you...

One Question for you players...Are you swimming?

CHS Swim season began yesterday.  Get your butt to the pool.  Put in the work and reap the rewards.  Speed, endurance, speed, endurance, speed, endurance...Any questions??

I understand if you are playing another sport.  Keep playing that sport if you enjoy it and are dedicated to it, that is awesome!  If you are not playing a spring sport...You SHOULD be swimming!!

Typical excuses we hear that never work, and I mean never!  Listen to your coaches boys.  Please don't try to sell us on some strategy you've concocted as an excuse not to swim.  We've heard it over and over before, I promise.

"Coach I'm going to be swimming on my own at that sports center"
"Coach I'm going to focus on weight training on my own to get stronger for water polo"
"Coach I'll be in the water a lot because I'll be surfing everyday"
"Coach I'm going to work extra hard in the summer to get in shape"  (Never happens and remember the summer is now really only 6-8 weeks until we start playing)

Benefits you will gain by swimming for CHS:
1) It is hardwork, but it is fun!
2) CHS is going for their 7th MTAL Championship in a row!!  Be a part of another winning tradition.  It's fun to win!
3) You will become a better water polo player by default if your swimming speed and endurance increases.
4) You will never be able to push yourself as hard on your own.  Practice 5 days a week, swimming against your peers, with skilled coaches pushing and instructing you....Get the picture?
5) More time with your teammates.  Build your team, hang out with your friends.  Push each other to be better.
6) Make Coach Gaily happy :)

It's your choice.  This message is more for the guys who are "on the fence".  Again, if you're playing another sport, great.  This is not intended to persuade you out of that sport in anyway.
If you want to improve your stock in the sport of water polo, swimming is a huge building block.  It's not necessary, but if you are looking to improve - swimming cannot be overlooked.
Parents, if your child is on the fence - give them a nudge.  I am a huge believer in the theory that sports on a consistent basis make for better students and well rounded kids.  I've seen it over and over.

So boys, Get your butt to the pool...Success comes with preparation...What are you doing to prepare yourself??  Listen to your coaches...Succeed!

Coach G
