Come on guys! Come on parents! This is a fantastic opportunity to get better, way better, and have fun playing polo this summer while getting to experience the Junior Olympic qualifying process. I wish I had this opportunity when I was in high school! We had to drive to San Jose every week during the summer to play tougher competition when I was at Carmel. With Legacy and this new JO opportunity it makes it so much easier!
I wanted at least 5-6 on each team and was hoping for more!! We're not even close to that conservative goal I had.
Let's go guys. Put in the extra work. It will be fun and will pay off big time.
I know some of you are focused on swimming and should be right now, but swim season is over in 6 weeks.
Remember, if you want to be really good at this game...You must play this game on a regular basis. You must also play this game at a "higher" level than where you are currently. Swimming will get you in shape to play the game, but without the knowledge of how to play this game at high levels...it matters not really how fast you are.
Some of you soon to be seniors...Make the most of your last season.
Remember, we are going to face Soquel, Aptos, and Santa Cruz next year in league! In addition to Salinas, RLS, Hollister, etc. I've heard some grumblings that Soquel and Aptos will be unbeatable...Are you kidding me??? They will be unbeatable if we don't see more kids get pumped and excited about getting better this summer.
Ask yourself...Are you going to be ready?
Contact the kids listed above who are already involved and their parents for carpooling info.
Info from Chris Melcer, coach of 16/Under JO team.
Based on your feedback, we modifed the 16's proposal to reduce travel and tournament costs and free up more of your summer.
Highlights of the new proposal:
- May 2nd to August 2nd.
- 4 tournaments (not 6).
- Tournament cost $250 (not $400 to 450)
- 10 to 13 on team and up to 20 practicing.
Next steps:
I'll let you know how many committed players we have over the next two monday's and at that time we'll need to make a decision to move foward or not. If we do we'll have an organizational meeting before our first practice.
Thanks for your consideration.
Chris Melcer
