Padre Invitational

Wow!  What a weekend of water polo at the Carmel Varsity tourney.  Beautiful weather, tons of fans and some great polo were had.  Many thanks go to the unbelievable parents that volunteered to run the snack bar, scoring table, setup/cleanup.  The snack bar was such a huge hit!  Thanks Ann Thornburg and Betsy Conron and so many others for such a wonderful spread.  Much thanks to the large number of JV and freshmen players that volunteered all day.  Thanks also go to Garrett's dad for bringing that awesome Greek food from his restaurant Epsilon!!!  I had so many compliments from visiting school parents about the quality of our tournament and how much they enjoyed it.  What a great team effort!

The boys lost all 3 games, but played some of the toughest competition we have faced all year.  The Padres lost to CCS Div. 1 powerhouse Leland 12-5, but played them very tough.  On Saturday the boys lost two heartbreakers.  They lost in double overtime to big Palo Alto school Gunn 9-8 and then lost another 1 goal game to Western Catholic Athletic League team Arbishop Mitty 8-7.  Both games could have easily gone our way, but we learned a lot from this weekend and have improved already from being tough tests we faced.  We are getting better everyday.  Sometimes the scoreboard doesn't always reflect that, but we all see and feel the improvement.

What a great weekend.  Thanks so much parents, coaches, players and supporters.

Coach Gaily
