The Padres took on the #1 seeded Sacred Heart Prep Gators at their home pool on Saturday. The boys were simply outmatched by a really good team and fell 14-8. It was a great experience for all of us and we are so proud of our boys.
This was only the second time in 35+ years that a Carmel team has advanced to the Quarterfinals of CCS. The last team being our team in 2007. It is quite an accomplishment for our program as we continue to improve each year and compete more and more with these top level programs. CCS is a much bigger deal for water polo than it is for most other sports due to the fact they only separate into two divisions of school sizes rather than 5 for most sports. Only 12 teams from Division 2 make the playoffs. These boys just set the bar higher. We are excited to see a future team meet that challenge and exceed beyond it.
It was a great season! Banquet on Friday night and then this coach is going to relax a bit, whew!!!
