I (Ann Thornburgh) also left a message for Carl Hertlein and asked if he could send an email
asking for help from other freshmen parents (Kira has asked, but no one has
stepped up to help). She needs a transportation scheduler for next week's
tourney, as she will be gone on vacation. Also, snack bar planners, end of
season banquet help would be great. Usually we don't like to bother the
coaches about these types of things, but Kira has taken on all the positions
(Officials Desk Scheduler, Snack Scheduler, Transportation Scheduler and Team
Mom), because no one else volunteered to do them when she asked. It is just too
much for one parent, especially when there are 25 Frosh players' parents that
should help out.
I (Coach Langland) would also add that except for Kira/Michael Whitaker, Laura Butler and Charlie Wahle (may have missed a couple others) I am not getting freshman parents to help with manning the desk: scorekeeping system, official book and stat keepers for home games. The JV and varsity always have it manned and they have many more league games than do the freshman. The games cannot be played unless we have the desk covered. We are more than willing to help with training.
From personal experience, you probably only have 3.5 more years to be involved in your boys activities so if it works for your schedule take advantage of this opportunity to get involved before they disappear.
