Summer Legacy Dates and Info now available for signups. Act Now parents :)

Ok parents and kids.  The summer is only 8 weeks long.  Come August 1 Carmel Water Polo will be kicking into full gear.  There will be competition for spots, playing time, maybe more than ever before.  This is a good thing.  Competition makes us all better.

What are you planning on doing to prepare yourself for the upcoming season?  I will tell you what I suggest, but with some humor I will tell you the typical responses I get from parents and kids each and every year without fail.   Ready?
   1)  "Coach, I am going to workout on my own at the CVAC or the Sports Center"  (Never seen this work, ever.  Nothing compares to training with a team of your peers with coaches there to push you).

  2)  "Coach, I am going to be in Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, etc.  I will be in the water every day snorkeling, surfing, etc.  I'll be in shape when Hell Weeks starts, don't worry"  (Sorry, but this I've heard far too many times and of course, never seen it work)

I make these comments in jest, but they are all too familiar to me.  We don't force anyone to play polo, but we are here as your coaches to make you the best that you can be.  That equals putting in the work necessary to improve.  Understand?

Summer is all about a time to have fun, recharge, spend time with family, maybe have a summer job.  I'm with ya on that, but if you want to improve at something...anything for that matter then you must put in some time and effort into that endeavor.  Success does not come by watching others prepare.

Ok I'll get off my soapbox.  As a coaching staff our mission is to make individual players the best they can be both in and out of the pool.  Hardwork in the pool should translate to all endeavors (focused handwork = improvement and progress towards your goals).

Finally, my suggestions...
1) Sign up for Legacy and attend as many practices as possible.  Work hard while you're there!
2) Attend every tournament Legacy is attending.  You must play competitive games as much as possible to really learn this game.
3) Tryout for the Junior Olympic Teams that Legacy is sponsoring.  Parents get involved here please!!
4) Attend swim conditioning workouts on weekday mornings at CHS.  Short, water polo specific workouts to get you in great shape and to get you faster.

"Decide, Commit, Succeed"  Sign up, commit, improve.  It's simple.

Participation allows for growth in the sport and significant maturity in overall play, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The time commitment and costs involved are not small, so please read the materials carefully to be sure of your family commitment to this event.
