Take 3 mins...

Students and parents, I strongly encourage you to take the 3 minutes it will take to watch and listen to this 3 minute clip of the life of the greatest coach in all of sports, John Wooden. We lost one of the greatest coaches and men to have ever walked this planet in my opinion. Coach John Wooden died yesterday at the age off 99. His book, "Observations from the Hardcourt" was the impetus to me becoming a coach and has guided me and all of our coaches in the last 7 years. We give this book to each graduating senior. I'm not sure how many truly read the book, but I hope they do someday. Coach Wooden changed my life for the better and I will be forever indebted. I was so fortunate to be able to meet him 2004. What a treat.

This man stood for what sports should be, a parallel to life lessons. Sports emphasizes teamwork, discipline, hardwork, responsibility, mental and physical preparation, victory and defeat, learning from others, learning from coaches, dealing with adversity, etc. I feel we've strayed from that so far as a society, especially when it comes to athletics. It has been our goal as a coaching staff, all of us, to do our best to emphasize that mentality and mindset in our water polo program to the best of our ability. Thank you for all your support and confidence.

Sincerely,

Coach Gaily
