The Varsity finished 2nd in the Hollister tournament on Saturday. Beating Mt. Pleasant 23-2, Hollister 14-4, and losing an "battle" to CCS perennial powerhouse Leland 11-9. The championship game was a fantastic game where the boys fought hard till the end. Although it ended with the loss, we gained a lot of confidence and excitement and our ability to truly "compete" with a high level program like Leland. Standouts for the weekend are almost too many to list, but in short, Ben Evered set a great 2M all tournament. Jay Louis all around contribution on offense and defense was invaluable. Ben Price had 35 saves in the cage and shut down a barrage of shots in the second half of the championship game including blocking a 5 meter penalty shot. Brady Hopkins shut down 2 meter on the defensive end while adding the first 3 goals of the Hollister game. Ben Regan and Romi Kristl solidified the perimeter with steals and counterattack goals and assists. Emilio Eisner was strong on both ends of the pool while starting starting all 3 games. Ryan Marden had a big goal in the championship game while he, Mike Airola, Declan Harris and Sam Stoffers were big contributors off the bench. We still have much work to do, but we caught a glimpse of the boys ability to challenge and "compete" against a very tough opponent. The report on the JV were that they were dominant and won all 3 games at the Aptos tournament. The Frosh lost all 3, but lost only by one to Santa Cruz's JV team. Way to go boys!
Don't miss the Salinas game on Tuesday! JV @ 3:30 and Varsity at 4:30. All players are expected to attend.
