A very fun new article just written and posted to the Monterey County Weekly website http://www.montereycountyweekly.com/weblogs/edible-complex/2013/jan/03/the-biggest-2012-local-sports-stunner-went-overloo/. I played against the writer and editor, Mark Anderson in high school. In fact we knew each other as little kids. He is now a patient of mine. He fully discloses our relationship within the article. The Weekly does not cover sports as most of you likely know. Mark heard about our game and the historic implications of our win and league championship over Soquel and was shocked, irritated, etc. that is was not covered well or much at all by the Monterey Herald. Unbeknownst to me Mark decided to put a fun re-cap article of our game on the Weekly website as a part of his 2012 Top Stories.
We focus our efforts in the pool and don't pay much attention to newspaper press about our play. But when a small public school beats a 19 year league champion who had not lost a league game in 17 years, and does so in such dramatic fashion as a sudden death triple overtime victory and goes completely unreported by our local paper, it's a real shame. The snippet that was in the Herald the morning after our victory was based upon my texts of highlights I sent the paper after the game.
Enjoy the article. http://www.montereycountyweekly.com/weblogs/edible-complex/2013/jan/03/the-biggest-2012-local-sports-stunner-went-overloo/
