Varsity Homestead Tournament

The Varsity enjoyed a successful weekend at the Homestead tournament.  The boys dropped a close one in the final 5 seconds of regulation play and lost 7-6 to Sobrato (the eventual tournament champion).  We rebounded nicely by handling Stevenson 10-6 and finishing with a win vs. Woodside 19-12.  We feel strongly as that was our tournament to win, but we've got to learn how to stay focused in the latter part of the game to close out close ones.  Positive experience was gained and we will be better next time.  It was a fun weekend in which everyone really got to play and share in the 3 games.  Leading scorers on the weekend were Andrea Collivadino 8 goals, Romi Kristl 7 goals, Ryan Marden with 5 goals.  Ben Price was stellar in cage and also contributed 3 goals as he got to play in the field in the final game.  Excellent play was contributed on offense and defense by juniors Trey Coppinger, Matt Gibson, and Zack Olivas (4 goals).  Kenny Doo and Michael Airola both teamed up to shut down 2 meters on defense.  It was a great team effort and a fun weekend.
