Well, if you didn't learn last year not to miss another Soquel vs. Carmel game, shame on you :) Just kidding a bit. If you made the trek up to Cabrillo College last night to watch that game, you experienced some great water polo. It wasn't a triple overtime thriller that we won for the championship last year, but it was another nail biter.

We came out on the losing end 14-13, but we were extremely proud of how our boys battled. After being down 5-1 at one point in the first quarter, the boys won every quarter after that and came within 1 goal 4 different times throughout the game.
Alon Yoeli led with 5 goals sharpshooting from the perimeter. Ethan Atkins added 3 big goals out of center while Wyatt Laughlin and Brett Luch both had great all around performances with 2 goals each and multiple assists and steals. Patrick Kelly played a fantastic game in the cage and had 10 saves while being extremely sick, a gutsy performance. Dylan Larson had a huge goal that brought us to within one in the 3rd quarter. Jackson Trapin put in a fine defensive effort by slowing down Soquel at 2 meters. It was a great team effort and something we will build upon.
The JV team was impressive with a 12-3 victory. The game was close in the first half and was 3-2 at halftime before the boys shutdown Soquel defensively and began finding the net from all over. Great job JV!
Take away point for parents...Don't just go to home games. Get some Carmel water polo gear and join the caravan. It's worth it :)
