Padre Varsity Invitational Re-Cap

What a great weekend it was.  Warm, sunny, and some darn good water polo.  Many thanks to all the parents who tirelessly contributed to volunteering at the snack bar, scorers table.  It's a long weekend with long hours.  Betsy Conron put together another fantastic snack bar with an army of parents and JV and freshman players that helped.  I think they sold out of everything!  Lori and Dan Luch manned the scoring table all weekend with many helpers.

We could not run this program to the level it is without all your help.  It truly is a team effort on so many levels.

Game Update:
Game 1:  The boys kicked off the tournament against a very tough opponent in St. Ignatius on Friday night.  The game was tight until the fourth quarter when SI pulled away with some great team speed with a final score of 15-9.
Brett Luch led all scorers with 4.  Ethan Atkins 2.  Wyatt Laughlin, Alon Yoeli, and Jack Eason each had 1 each.  Sophomore Dylan Langdon started his first varsity game and did great with 5 saves

Game 2:  Carmel then faced another very tough opponent from the Western Catholic Athletic League, Valley Christian.  Team defense was the focus as the boys shutdown the Valley Christian perimeter speed and inside game, holding them to just 6 goals.  Our offense was clicking from the outside with excellent ball movement and timely accurate shooting.  Final score was Carmel 9, Valley Christian 6.
Wyatt Laughlin had a monster game with 5 goals.  Brett Luch had 2.  Alon Yoeli and Ethan Atkins had 1 each.  Dylan Langdon really had his coming out party as he tallied 7 big saves.

Game 3:  The boys finished the weekend with another great team defensive effort by holding Western Catholic Athletic Power to just 4 goals, winning the game 8-4.
Alon Yoeli led all scorers with 4 goals.  Kaden ("The Coombster") Coombs had 2 big goals.  Ethan Atkins 1.  Dylan Langdon 12 big saves.

Outstanding defense was demonstrated by Jackson Trapin all weekend as he shut down the middle all weekend.  Dylan Larson had excellent all around play while freshman Kevan Auger offered a great threat off the bench on the counterattack.

It was a great weekend!  Once again, thank you to all you wonderful parents and underclassmen who volunteered.  Thank you also to Ed Sigourney for his help in seeding the tourney.  A huge and special thank you to Rodger Langland who is the main man behind the scenes, who without this whole thing could not exist the way it is.  Thanks Rodger!
