Post season / Community service opportunities

Parents and Players of Frosh, JV and Varsity teams,

It's crunch time now.  The varsity boys have advanced to the semi-finals of our league championship tournament.  We will host Palma at Carmel High School on Thursday at 6pm.  We are encouraging all students, friends, and parents to attend.  We want a packed house!  Need your support.

Coach Gaily

related to that we are looking for two (preferably 4) JV/frosh team members to man the admission table Thursday from 3:30 until 6:30. If we have 4 people one shift can be from 3:30 until 5:00 and the second from 5:00 until 6:30. This qualifies for community service hours. Please email Coach Rodger at rlangland@comcast.net if you are able to help. First response gets the opportunity.

We need the varsity players at the pool right after school to set up the pool so it is ready for warm-up by the teams playing at 4:00. We need ALL MEMBERS to help out not just the normal ones who always take it seriously. You know which camp you are in as do the coaches. Do your part and is easier for all.

A friend is in charge of this Habitat for Humanities activity and is having a hard time filling his quota of volunteers this year because of slow response by the Marathon. This is after polo season for JV and frosh and will earn you 4 or more community service hours. The proceeds go to a good charity in the area and he says it is fun to do. If you have time give it a try.

Building houses,
building
hope

As many of you will recall, for the past 4 or 5 years, Habitat volunteers have assisted the Big Sur International Marathon in trash collection following the full marathon in the spring and the half marathon in the fall. For our participation, the BSIM has awarded Habitat several very generous cash grants to help us with our building projects.
Our task is to separate the gathered trash in to compostable, recyclable and true trash. In this way, we leave the finish site cleaner than when we arrived and we minimize the impact on our good earth.
Every volunteer is entitled to a free hot breakfast and a “Race Crew” T-Shirt in your size. From start to finish the volunteers would be expected to work 4 hours or so on the Sunday morning of the race starting around 11:00.
This year BSIM has asked us to supply 50 volunteers for the Half Marathon to be held on November 16.
Habitat asks you to help us on this fund raising project.
The instructions to sign up are outlined below. Follow these instructions carefully – computers find it difficult to read our minds. Once you have signed up (including your e-mail address), I can then communicate with the entire team.
SIGNUP INSTRUCTIONS HERE (please follow closely)
  1. Go to bsim.org.
  2. Click on Half Marathon.
  3. On the yellow banner, go to Race Weekend and scroll down to Volunteers.
  4. On the volunteer sign in page, there is a little blue, black, and white icon. Click that.
  5. Agree to the waiver. (important)
  6. Choose your group (Monterey County Habitat for Humanity) from the drop down menu. Follow the prompts to complete your registration. The password is “bixby.”
